Today I finally, after a month of waiting, got to see Her.
Copyright: Warner Brothers, Annapurna Pictures
Her is about Theodore Twombly, a writer. Theodore's life is just a haze until he meets his newly bought Operating System, Samantha. Theodore then goes on an emotional journey trying to find where his heart belongs.
Now from the first time I saw the first trailer, I was ecstatic for this film. It looked like the usual love story told time and time again, but in a brand new light. I was sorely disappointed when I realized no theater around me would have Her on it's limited 2013 opening. I toughed it out and waited until January. It was so worth the wait.
Her is written and directed by Spike Jonze. The dialogue in the film was real and flowed from character to character. The world that was created felt so real. After the movie, I felt like my iPhone was so inferior.
The acting in the movie was some of the best acting I have seen. I believe this is Joaquin Phoenix's best performance. He acted solo for most the movie and he did a grand job pulling it off. He made you feel for Theodore's plight.
The only issue I have is the editing. The movie felt a little long and it may have dragged at points. It was only at a few points but I did check the time seeing what time it was.
With that being said, Her was definitely the best movie I have seen in awhile.
So I have the pleasure of saying Her is a solid bar of GOLD.
